Bay Area Dance School dancers Jessica Fry and Clark Griffin, left and above, won first place in their division. The Los Altos-based Bay Area Dance School (BADS), owned and operated by Leyla Boissonnade, participated in its first competition as a new dance school Dec. 1 and 2. Five BADS dancers competed in the Tremaine Dance Convention/Competition at the Westin Hotel in San Francisco. Dancers competing in the event included Clark Griffin, Jessica Fry, Johanna Sigurdarottir, Jasmine Jimison and Serena Detata. They performed seven dances and won six overall awards and three scholarships. The dancers also received high marks for their choreography, costumes and presentation.
According to BADS representatives, it was a successful first competition, with many praising how well the team worked together and how attentive the older dancers were in helping the younger ones. Bay Area Dance School is located at 4600 El Camino Real, Suite 106. For more information, call 472-2214, email
