This game was over in a hurry. The Los Altos High girls basketball team fell behind host St. Francis 17-0 in the first quarter of last week’s non-league contest, and the undefeated Lancers rolled to a 74-20 victory.

“We encountered an opponent that was very fast and talented,” Eagles coach Kevin Lee said. “They put a lot of pressure on the ball and we responded poorly to the pressure.”

Los Altos (2-4 overall) committed more than 30 turnovers for the second game in a row, providing St. Francis plenty of opportunities to score. Up 38-9 at halftime, the Lancers went on a 21-4 run in the third quarter.

“They have some very quick guards who run the floor and shoot very well,” Lee said of St. Francis (7-0).

Ten Lancers scored in the Dec. 11 game, led by Shelbi Aimonetti’s 16 points. Lauren Johnson added 12 points, Carolyn McGuire 10 and Jennifer Lucian nine.

Ideen Seyed paced the Eagles with six points and Meg Enthoven contributed four.

Pinewood started slow but dominated the second quarter on the way to a 48-39 non-league win at Homestead Dec. 12.

The Panthers trailed by three after one quarter, then outscored the Mustangs 13-0 in the second to take control of the game.

Gabi Bade scored 17 points for Pinewood (4-0) and Angelina Mapa had eight, including a pair of 3-pointers.
