Youth committee asks teens to rate businesses The city of Mountain View Youth Advisory Committee has implemented a Teen-Friendly Business Program. Mountain View teens are encouraged to nominate businesses they believe are friendly to teens by visiting www.surveymonkey.com/s/2012TeenFriendlyBusiness through Dec. 31. Beginning in January, the top 12 ranked businesses will receive recognition for their efforts.

MVPD helps Santa distribute gifts More than 1,700 children are scheduled to participate in the Mountain View Police Department’s 10th annual “Cops That Care” Holiday Gift Program 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 22 at 1000 Villa St. The gift-giving event, founded by Officer Ron Cooper, provides presents for children whose families may not have the means to purchase gifts on their own. Youth through 18 years old with an affiliation to Mountain View are invited to visit the Police/Fire Auditorium to select a toy from the thousands available. The Mountain View Police Department relies on cash and toy donations from the community to amass enough gifts. The department is now accepting new and unwrapped toys and clothing, gift cards and cash. Drop donations at 1000 Villa St. or mail checks payable to the Mountain View Police Activities League (MVPAL) with “Cops That Care” written on the memo line. Parents or guardians of participating children will be asked to present something that shows their child’s connection to Mountain View. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
