1918-2012

A resident of Los Altos for 57 years, Ruth died peacefully on November 30, 2012. She was born on November 2, 1918 to Earl and Maude Weiler, and along with her brother Roy, Ruth spent her early years growing up in Lemoore, CA. The family later moved to San Francisco where Ruth attended Polytechnic High School. In 1946, Ruth met Sam Dekker, the love of her life, and they were married for almost 65 years.

In 1955 Sam and Ruth moved to Los Altos where they raised their daughter, Diane Clausen, in the place they would call home for the rest of their lives. Sam and Ruth enjoyed golf and belonged to Los Altos Country Club for more than 20 years, making many friends along the way. Ruth was an avid gardener and she and Sam loved to dance. They took several memorable vacations on “Big Band” cruises together. Ruth was preceded in death by Sam seven months ago, and it is comforting to know that they are together again.

“Mama Ruthie” is survived by her daughter Diane, her grandson Brian Clausen, his wife Erin, and her great grandchildren, Evan, Noah and Flannery Clausen. A mass at St Simon Catholic Church, followed by internment at Gate of Heaven has taken place. Spangler Mortuary handled the arrangements.
