Hazardous weather expected for Santa Clara County Print E-mail
Written by Ellie Van Houtte

With more rain forecast this weekend, the National Weather Service (NWS) of the San Francisco Bay Area expects hazardsous weather for Santa Clara County.

NWS said residents should be prepared for inconveniences such as flooding of streets and underpasses in low lying spots, as well as rising streams and creeks.

As water may be deeper than it appears, the NWS advises drivers to avoid flooded roadways.

To report flooding problems, contact local law enforcement authorities or town personnel. Residents of Los Altos can contact the Los Altos Police Department at 947-2770. Residents of Los Altos Hills can contact city staff at 941-7122 during business hours or the Santa Clara County Department of Roads and Airports after hours at (408) 299-2507.

Local municipalities are offering free sandbags to residents of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. According to the Los Altos Hills County Fire District, officials are on standby should flooding problems arise.

Where to find sandbags:

Los Altos residents can pick up sandbags at the Municipal Service Center, 707 Fremont Ave. (McKenzie Park parking lot).

Los Altos Hills residents can pick up sandbags at Purissima Park, 27400 Purissima Road (across from the Corporation Yard).
