Ivy honor for Nickel Pinewood School graduate Lindsay Nickel, a senior on the Brown University women’s basketball team, Nov. 12 was named Ivy League Player of the Week for the first time. The Los Altos resident scored a career-high 27 points in the Bears’ 82-48 season-opening victory over St. Peter’s College. Nickel made nine 3-pointers, tying the school record. Snowshoeing basics REI in Mountain View is scheduled to host a free presentation, “Snowshoeing Basics,” 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday. Holiday hoops camp Spartans Sports Camp’s inaugural Holiday Basketball Camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 26-29 in the Mountain View High gym. It is open to boys and girls in grades 5-8. Peninsula Baseball Club is looking for talented baseball players who are looking to become part of an amazingly competitive and developmental year round baseball program.
