LAVA, CSA partner for food, toy drive

The Los Altos Village Association and the Community Services Agency are partnering to collect donations of food, books, toys and pajamas for needy families and seniors during the holiday season.

The CSA Holiday Food Drive collects items such as crackers, baking mixes of all varieties (for example, Bisquick, cookie and cake mixes), spices, hot cocoa, tea and coffee, canned gravy and sauce mixes, pudding, Jello, boxed and canned potatoes, nuts, chocolates and dried fruit.

CSA’s Holiday Toy Drive accepts items for teens and children, including books, board games, toys and pajamas. According to CSA representatives, there is a big need for pajamas for children 8-12 and teen-oriented gifts or gift certificates (in $25 or $30 denominations).

From Saturday through Dec. 12, residents may deposit donations in various collection barrels placed around downtown Los Altos. The Los Altos Village Association will place barrels at the entrances of the following downtown Los Altos merchants.

• Adventure Toys & Teachers’ Supplies, 173 Main St.

• Cranberry Scoop, 295 State St.

• Gitane, 334 State St.

• Maria’s Antiques, 393 Main St.

• Village Stationers, 222 Main St.

Donors may also make monetary donations online at www.csacares.org. CSA uses 0.85 cents of every dollar donated toward client care and services.
