MV lights up for holidays

The city of Mountain View has scheduled its annual Community Tree Lighting Celebration 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Civic Center Plaza, 500 Castro St.

The event will include refreshments, face painting, live music and activities for children.

Santa is due to arrive at 5:45 p.m. to hear holiday wishes from children, so parents are encouraged to bring their cameras.

City officials request that visitors bring a can of food to donate to the Giving Tree, a program benefiting needy residents at the Community Services Agency.

The event will take place rain or shine.

MV hosts city website redesign town hall

The city of Mountain View has scheduled a Town Hall and Online Meeting to address its website redesign 5:30-7 p.m. Dec. 5 in the council chambers on the second floor of city hall, 500 Castro St.

One of the city council’s top goals for fiscal year 2012-2013 is to complete a redesign that will integrate a new look, feel and concept for the city’s website. The purpose of the redesign process is to make the website more user-friendly, providing residents with easier access to important information and online services.

Residents can offer suggestions electronically prior to the meeting and/or join an online discussion (look for more details to follow online).
