County Line Trio is scheduled to perform its “Salute to the Kingston Trio” concert 8 p.m. Saturday at Sunnyvale Theatre, 550 E. Remington Drive.

For more than 50 years, the Kingston Trio has held the record as the only group in music history to have four simultaneous top 10 albums. The trio’s popularity helped spur the revival of American folk music. paving the way for artists like Joan Baez and Bob Dylan.

County Line Trio – featuring Bay Area residents Tod Brendlen (banjo and guitar), Dean Hammer (guitar and conga drum) and Bob Lawrence (guitar and banjo) – will perform the Kingston Trio’s biggest hits, including “Tom Dooley,” “Scotch and Soda” and “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?”

The group has opened for comedian Pat Paulsen, former Limelighter Glenn Yarbrough, country-western singer Teri Gibbs and singer/songwriter John Stewart, formerly of the Kingston Trio.

Brendlen and fellow University of Nevada fraternity brother Bud Olsen teamed with Hammer to form County Line Trio in 1969. Lawrence has performed on and off with the group since the 1970s. He is filling in while Olsen is on medical leave.

Tickets are $22-28.
