Turkey Trot nears Mountain View High’s third annual Spartan Turkey Trot is scheduled Thursday. Race-day registration opens at 7:30 a.m. on the school track. The 5K run is slated to start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K walk at 8:35 a.m. A series of fun runs is planned immediately after the 5Ks: a 60-yard dash, a 400 dash and a mile run. The top three finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions of the 5K run will be awarded home-baked pumpkin pies and a gift certificate. Baseball tryouts The Los Altos-Mountain View PONY Baseball Mavericks, a Cooperstown Club Team for players 12-and-under, has scheduled tryouts 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 8 at Covington School, 201 Covington Road, Los Altos.
