July 29, 1936 – October 30, 2012

Resident of Los Altos Hills

Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend passed away suddenly with her family and friends beside her. Born in Ohio, she came to California in 1958 to pursue her dreams. Donna is survived by her husband of 49 years, Nicholas; children Leslie Thomas (Dean) and Walter (Jann); grandchildren Ethan, Alyssa, and Matthew; sisters Connie Frey (Russ), Susan Ferris (Boyd), and Joan Min

namon (Paul); plus many other cherished relatives and friends.

Donna was passionate about the things she loved. A gifted educator, she taught for many years at Saint Simon’s School. At age 50 she began studying French and came to enjoy speaking French, traveling in France, and reading French books. At 68 she fell in love at her first sight of the dulcimer and worked hard to become a proficient player. Above all, Donna loved her family and friends. Her generous spirit and inquisitive nature, coupled with the courage to step forward, brought her friends in many places. Donna will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16, at Alta Mesa Funeral Home, 695 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto, California. A reception will follow the service.
