MVHS alumnus speaks on immigration

MVLA Community Scholars has scheduled a discussion featuring Mountain View High School alumnus and Pulitzer Prize winner Jose Antonio Vargas 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday at Los Altos High School’s Eagle Theater, 201 Almond Ave.

Vargas benefited from the MVLA Community Scholars program during his days at Mountain View High. He revealed his undocumented status in 2011 and has been featured on the cover of Time Magazine on the topic of immigration in the United States.

His Sunday presentation, “Not Legal. Not Leaving,” will focus on how the 2012 election will affect immigration. Celebrity Forum Speaker Series founder and host Dick Henning will moderate the presentation.

The event is free, but the public is asked to preregister at www.jose.eventbrite.com.
