Softball sign-ups Mountain View-Los Altos Girls Softball sign-ups are under way. Those who register by Thursday receive an early-bird discount. Turkey Trot time Mountain View High’s third annual Spartan Turkey Trot is scheduled the morning of Thanksgiving, Nov. 22. Race-day registration is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. on the school track. The 5K run is slated to start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K walk at 8:35 a.m. A series of fun runs are planned immediately after the 5Ks: a 60-yard dash, a 400 dash and a mile run. The top three finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions of the 5K run will be awarded home-baked pumpkin pies and a gift certificate for the On Your Mark Performance running store in Los Altos. PONY starts sign-ups Los Altos Mountain View PONY Baseball registration has opened for the spring season. The league is for boys and girls ages 5-19. Snowshoeing basics REI in Mountain View is scheduled to host a free presentation, “Snowshoeing Basics,” 7-8:30 p.m. Nov. 29. REI snowshoe specialist Philip Watkins will demonstrate how to select appropriate gear and provide tips on where to go snowshoeing. REI is located at 2450 Charleston Road.
