 Robert F. Avery, MD, died of cancer Friday, October 19, at The Sequoias Portola Valley. Dr. Avery practiced internal medicine in Los Altos for many years. He was a member of Christ Church, Portola Valley, where he sang in the choir, and sang madrigals around the dining room table each week with a group of friends. Dr. Avery participated in several productions of the Peninsula Frolics. He was an enthusiastic gardener and hiker. He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1920. He is survived by his brother, John Avery, MD; two sisters, Margaret Smith and Virginia Avery; two daughters, Margaret Harrison and Constance Hunter; four grandchildren, Alison Mitchell, Eleanor Hunter, David Harrison, and Mary Adams; and a great-granddaughter, Adaya Mitchell.
