Los Altos residents play key role in Ballet San Jose: Print E-mail

The newly formed Ballet San Jose has scheduled its inaugural gala Saturday in a tent adjacent to the Center for the Performing Arts in San Jose. Cocktails on the plaza are scheduled at 5 p.m., followed by a sit-down dinner and performances at 8 p.m.

The gala planning committee draws more than half of its members from Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. Elizabeth Hutter of Los Altos serves as the committee’s chairwoman.

“Los Altos students are performing in the gala performance, and a lot of Los Altos residents are excited to have this newly launched ballet company so near their home,” Hutter said. “They are proud to view Ballet San Jose as ‘their ballet,’ since we recently partnered with American Ballet Theatre and have now taken our company and school to astounding heights.”

The gala will feature a series of ballets followed by musical entertainment. After the performances, guests will have an opportunity to meet the artists. The Bill Hopkins Rock’n Orchestra will provide live entertainment.

The San Jose Center for the Performing Arts is located at 255 Almaden Blvd.

For tickets ($45-$125) and more information, visit balletsj.org/gala.html.

I am thrilled and proud to share this Gala of unprecedented artistic caliber with my friends and neighbors in Los Altos and Los Altos Hills! The dazzling ballet performances with star-studded musical guest artists will ignite this community and draw us together clambering for more. A gorgeous celebration of the exciting season ahead with our very own newly exalted Ballet San Jose, just 20 minutes from home!
