LuLu’s Mexican restaurant owner Natalie Richardson has a new trophy to place on her mantel.

Richardson, who opened LuLu’s at 163 Main St., Los Altos, in January, is among eight women recently named 2012 Entrepreneur of the Year Award winners by Women’s Initiative. Richardson was honored at an Oct. 11 awards reception at the Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club in Menlo Park.

With her husband, Bracken, Richardson owns three additional LuLu’s locations, in San Carlos, Palo Alto and Menlo Park.

Women’s Initiative is a not-for-profit agency founded in 1988 to assist high-potential, low-income women in opening their own businesses. Since 2009, the organization has recognized more than 100 women throughout the Bay Area for their business achievements.
