Mountain View police are looking for a suspect in a reported robbery attempt Oct. 16 along Stevens Creek Trail near Evelyn Avenue.

Police reported the male victim was walking on the trail approximately 8:05 p.m., with a backpack in hand. The suspect reportedly came from behind and grabbed the backpack. According to a police description, the two struggled to gain control of the backpack, and during the struggle the victim and suspect fell to the ground.

The victim was able to gain control of his backpack and run home where he called 9-1-1. The victim received minor abrasions from the attack.

Police reported a call just 10 minutes earlier regarding an attempted robbery on the trail.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s, approximately 5-foot, 10-inches tall with a medium to heavy build. The suspect was wearing dark clothing and a dark colored baseball cap.

Police encourage trail users to be aware of their surroundings and call the MVPD to report any suspicious people or activities via the non-emergency dispatch number at (650) 903-6395. An emergency or crime in progress should be reported via 9-1-1.

Anyone with any information about this suspect or crime is encouraged to call (650) 903-6359.
