Los Altos native Shannon Haley is coming home – well, sort of. She and her musical partner, Ryan Michaels of Palo Alto, are scheduled to play 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at Club Fox in Redwood City.

Haley, who attended Pinewood School and graduated from Los Altos High, is part of a new singing duo, Haley and Michaels. The musicians are performing in the Bay Area, fresh off wins for Best Pop/Rock Band and Best Live Performers at the Nashville Independent Music Awards.

The pair were introduced last year in Nashville, where both were pursuing solo careers. After they collaborated on songwriting and recording projects, they decided to perform as a duo last summer and have since played Nashville, Los Angeles, Chicago and other cities in the Midwest.

They recently shot their first music video for their debut single, “The Price I Pay,” and are busy recording their first album.

So far, Haley and Michaels have received good reviews. Their website includes a critique from the publication Music Connection: “The radio-ready, soon-to-be first single brilliantly showcases the tight, well-blended harmonies that are close to constant in their music.” The review also praises their “ability to appeal to lovers of multiple music genres.”

While at Los Altos High, Haley sang with music director Mark Shaull’s Main Street Singers for three years, traveling through Eastern Europe, Russia and Australia.

Haley attended UCLA on a voice scholarship. She continued to hone her personal musical style, writing music, assembling a band and performing in Los Angeles clubs while completing her degree.

She graduated from UCLA with honors in 2008 and has been pursuing a music career since, commuting between Los Angeles and Nashville.
