Los Altos’ Kacey Incerpi beat Mountain View’s Vivian Li at No. 1 singles. Getting what coach Hung Nguyen called “sweet revenge,” his Los Altos High girls tennis team routed rival Mountain View 6-1 Thursday. Spartans coach Frank Smyth said the visiting Eagles “were determined to amend their loss a couple weeks back,” a 4-3 decision in the second league match for both teams.
This time, Los Altos swept the singles. Top player Kacey Incerpi – who lost to Mountain View’s Vivian Li in three sets Sept. 18 – cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the rematch. The Eagles’ other singles players – Juliette Martin, Lili Kobayashi and Carina Burdick – also won in straight sets. In doubles, Los Altos pulled out tight wins at the top two spots – Amy Wang-Katie Limbach and Katie Kouvelas-Haley Jones both prevailed in three sets – while Mountain View’s Miki Kobayashi-Jamie Osborne won a three-setter at No. 3. Improving to 4-5 in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division and 11-5 overall, the Eagles’ “CCS (playoff) chances still look very strong” with five matches remaining, Nguyen said. The Spartans’ playoff hopes look bleak. They are 1-7 in the division and 4-8 overall. Mountain View is scheduled to host Lynbrook 3:30 p.m. Thursday; Los Altos has a bye.
