Arnold P. Pappas, longtime Placentia, CA resident, died September 18, 2012, from natural causes. “Pete”, as he was known to his friends, was born July 22, 1924, in New York City. He served in the U.S. Infantry in Europe in World War II. After the war ended, he earned a B.A. degree from Antioch College in Ohio and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin. His career began with the A.O. Smith Corp. in Milwaukee, and continued after a transfer to its Western Division in Anaheim in the late 50’s. He also worked a number of years for Hunt-Wesson Foods and Hughes Aircraft Company. He was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy, Evelyn, and Rita and brother Peter.

Pete is survived by his wife of sixty years Jean, daughter Linda Pappas Diaz (Jack/Michael) of Thousand Oaks, CA and their children Kim and Neva, son Richard A. Pappas (Liesa) of Los Altos, CA, and their children Jake and Nikki.

Pete will be remembered as a gentleman with a silly side. He was always quick with a joke or smile. Besides being a cinema buff he enjoyed playing tennis and bridge and traveling the world with his wife. As a devoted family man, he lived up to his lifelong vow that he would make the lives of his children better than his. He succeeded. He is dearly loved and will be missed by all.

Interment was conducted on September 27, 2012 at Riverside National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contributions be made to The Alzheimer’s Association. The family especially wishes to thank his caregivers at Sam’s Homecare in Yorba Linda for their patience and kindness.
