The Morning Forum of Los Altos lecture series has begun its 63rd season. The talks are scheduled 10:15-11:45 a.m. the first and third Tuesdays of every month through June at Los Altos United Methodist Church, 655 Magdalena Ave.

The remainder of the 2012 schedule:

• Oct. 16: Channing Robertson, Ph.D., professor of chemical engineering emeritus, “Forensic Science: An Oxymoron?”

• Nov. 6: Steve Almond, author and journalist, “Candyfreak: A Journey Through the Chocolate Underbelly of America”

• Nov. 20: Pat Kaunert, Mark Twain impersonator, “Mark Twain, Out West”

• Dec. 4: Cypress String Quartet, performing “Dvorak’s Voices”

Morning Forum was founded in 1950 with the aim of providing general cultural and intellectual stimulation through the giving and receiving of information with an open-minded and tolerant attitude.

Membership increased from 49 in 1950 to 400 by 1956 and has remained at its limit for many years. Morning Forum’s guest speakers have included prominent figures in multiple fields, from famed anthropologist Margaret Mead to feminist Gloria Steinem and former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

Membership is open to the public and seats are currently available.

For more information or a membership application, call membership chairman Les Spring at 948-4579 or visit www.morningforum.org.
