TOWN CRIER FILE PHOTO
Photo Town Crier File Photo Children’s activities are a mainstay of the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Festival.

Leaves are falling and scarecrows are calling local residents to attend the 21st annual Los Altos Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Festival, scheduled 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the North Parking Plaza in downtown Los Altos.

The Little Explorers’ Petting Zoo will return to the Children’s Alley, offering an opportunity for a hands-on experience with animals from an alpaca to giant tortoises. The area will also feature rides, slides, bounce houses and train rides. Local schools and organizations sponsor a host of games and seasonal activities, including pumpkin painting, scarecrow hands, a fishing booth, toss games and a witches’ cauldron.

Entertainment will include a variety of musicians performing on the KFC Main Stage: The Mary Ellen Duo, standards; Fenny & Rossi, blues guitar and harmonica; The Cruzers, rock ’n’ roll dance music; Deb Thacker, acoustic guitar; Bluehouse, pop music; and Drive, classic dance rock.

More than 150 arts and crafts booths will offer a variety of handmade items for purchase, many of them with autumnal or holiday themes.

A classic-car show will feature more than 100 vintage cars, from a 1912 Franklin to a 1970 Meyers Manx Dune Buggy. Sunday’s marque-class automobile is the Thunderbird.

Chef Chu’s will serve Chinese food and other vendors with offer hamburgers, hot dogs, tamales, crepes, smoothies, kettle corn, frozen yogurt, gyros and dolmas. Soft drinks, select wines and Gordon Biersch beers will be available.

Festivalgoers interested in home-improvement projects can visit a number of exhibitors.
