Photo Town Crier File Photo The Community School of Music and Arts, which provides lessons for children and adults, has scheduled an open house Aug. 19.

The Community School of Music and Arts is scheduled to showcase its art and music classes, private music lessons and faculty to the public at an open house 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug 19 at 230 San Antonio Circle, Mountain View.

Art and music demonstrations, including digital arts, ceramics and preschool music, will take place throughout the event. Staff and faculty members will be on hand to answer questions. Tours of the 25,000-square-foot Finn Center will be available every 20 minutes.

The 200-seat Tateuchi Hall will feature instrument demonstrations, an instant chorus and music scholar performances. Attendees are invited to attend two free art workshops: “Fashion Design” and “Manga Mania.”

Hobee’s California Restaurants will provide refreshments.

Founded in 1968, Community School of Music and Arts is Northern California’s largest nonprofit provider of arts education programs and, with a $4.7 million budget and 160-member staff and faculty, one of the 10 largest community schools of its kind in the U.S. CSMA serves more than 42,000 people annually, including 10,660 students in more than 600 classrooms at 35 schools from Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. CSMA also presents dozens of concerts, lectures and exhibitions that are free of charge to the community.
