Walter “Juni” Zawojski passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and devoted family on July 11, 2009. Walter was born in Przemysl, Poland on June 21, 1912. In 1949 he and his wife and young son immigrated to San Mateo, California. Their daughter was born soon after their arrival in the United States. Juni was an artist, scientist and philosopher, and up until his passing he devoured knowledge. For him, family was always #1. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mika; son Christopher and his wife Camille; daughter Karen and her husband Bud; grandchildren Jessica (husband Nate), Alana, Emily, Erik and Katrina. The family had a private memorial and request that friends remember Walter with smiles, laughter and fond memories. Juni, you were and always will be a part of us. We love you up to the sky and higher.

Walter had a marvelous range of graphic-arts skills, and discreet forgery was one. Walter was among righteous of Zion; during WW II, he created false documents that saved the lives of many people, including Jews. Walter seldom spoke of his wartime experiences, like the true hero that he was.
