Rambus, a Los Altos-based technology licensing company specializing in high-speed memory architectures, has awarded its annual “Innovator of the Future” scholarships to Sravanthi (Srav) Puranam of St. Francis High School and Louis Smith of Mountain View High School.
The program, established in 2005, seeks to broaden educational opportunities for students who, by virtue of their academic and extracurricular achievements, demonstrate a passion for science and technology that extends beyond the classroom.
Rambus has awarded $10,000 each to Puranam and Smith for college or university tuition and books at a U.S. or foreign college or university. The scholarship money will be distributed at the beginning of each academic year in equal increments over four years.
“Innovation runs deep at Rambus and is the lifeblood for future developments and opportunities,” said Harold Hughes, president and chief executive officer. “We are proud to help foster education for graduates like Srav and Louis and we wish them well as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.”
Next year’s Rambus “Innovator of the Future” scholarship awards are open to individuals attending a high school located in either Los Altos or Mountain View, and graduating before fall 2010 with plans to attend a four-year college or university. Applications will be available during the 2009-2010 academic year.
