The Los Altos Community Foundation and the National Charity League have scheduled “Glorious Fourth,” an Independence Day celebration, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Shoup Park, 400 University Ave., Los Altos.
The event follows the Los Altos Hills Fourth of July Parade, which invites children dressed in red, white and blue to gather at 9:30 a.m. at town hall, 26379 W. Fremont Road, and march to Gardner Bullis School. Parade attendees are encouraged to continue their celebration at the “Glorious Fourth.”
The free event will include a dunk tank for the first time, featuring various Los Altos and Los Altos Hills councilmembers among other local dignitaries.
Activities for children of all ages are scheduled, including balloon art, guessing jars, face painting, a petting zoo and games.
Live entertainment from Ye Olde Town Band and teen bands such as Cup Roman will provide a soundtrack for the afternoon. Local war veterans will be present to lead participants in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Refreshments include Paradise shaved ice and Armadillo Willy’s BBQ Sandwiches. The National Charity League is assisting by manning some of the games and activities. Organizers recommend that attendees bring blankets and chairs.
