showroom.

For homeowners left scratching their heads trying to make a space work more efficiently, Valet Organizers Inc. offers a helping hand.

The firm, with a showroom in downtown Los Altos, offers services in space design and custom furniture installation for almost every room in a house.

The company designs and installs home offices and theaters, adds wall beds to small guest rooms and transforms inefficient closet areas by adding shelving, counters and drawers. And, if a garage needs a makeover, they’ll redo it by adding shelving, cabinets and work space.

Larry Fox, president of Valet Organizers, bought the company in 2000 from a couple who had founded the business and were close to retirement. Fox had already been a satisfied customer of the firm - so satisfied, in fact, he decided to buy it.

“I liked it so much, I bought the business,” Fox said.

Since then Fox, who has been a Los Altos resident for 12 years, has expanded the business through acquisitions.

In 2005 Fox bought EuroDesign, a custom furniture company with a showroom on State Street. Valet Organizers is located in that State Street building.

The company, headquartered in Campbell, prides itself on providing high-quality products backed by personal service.

“(Our custom installations) are an investment,” Fox said, referring to the value his products add to a home. “We want our customers to be educated on the quality, the caliber and the price. Unlike a furniture store, everything (we do) is built to the specific needs (of the customer).”

“We go through an interview process with our clients: How much file storage do they need? Do they use a desktop computer or a laptop? Do they prefer the printer on top or below (on a shelf)? Once I have a sense of you, I design a plan for you,” Fox said.

Fox and his staff encourage clients to visit the showroom for ideas. At some point, the designer will visit a client’s home.

“We take measurements and we draw up a plan on a CAD program,” Fox said. “We meet again and fine-tune the changes. Once we have the go-ahead, we manufacture and install it from start to finish. We do it all. It’s designed, manufactured and installed by us.

“We focus on building your dream,” Fox said. “Los Altos is a wonderful market for our business.”

Valet Organizers is located at 359 State St. and has showrooms in Campbell, Burlingame and Danville. For more information, call 941-776 or visit www.valetorganizers.com.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
