GORDON ALFRED BROWN

On November 29, with his children at his side, Gordon Brown passed away peacefully. Born in San Francisco, his family later returned to New Zealand, where he became a member of the Championship “First 15″ Rugby Team of Christchurch Boy’s High School, and worked on a sheep ranch and as a professional deer hunter before volunteering for the U.S. Army in 1943. After he received a B.S in Journalism from U.C. Berkeley, Gordon worked as a newspaper reporter, advertising copywriter and eventually as the editor for “Measure” magazine at Hewlett Packard, where after 17 years, he retired as Director of Internal Communications. Gordon was an avid outdoorsman and dove for abalone until he was nearly 70 years old. He loved camping, hiking, tennis, golf, and the Cal Bears. He was strong as an ox, gentle as a kitten, sweet as honey, and stubborn as a mule, and he walked
3-5 miles a day until a month before his death. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly Brown, daughter Marta Zielonko, daughter Hilary Menting, son-in-law Ronald Menting, son Gregory Brown, former daughter-in-law Diane Brown, grandson Nicholas Brown, brother Stanley Brown and sister-in-law Valerie Brown. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 8th, 1:00 pm, at the Hidden Villa Ranch Dana Center (formerly Duvenek’s), 26870 Moody Rd, Los Altos Hills, CA. Gordon loved this area on his walks. Note: As you enter Hidden Valley, park near the first building to the right (Dana Center). $5. parking fee is waived.
SARAH E. ISH
After a short illness, Sarah Ish passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2006, at the age of 89. Born, October 24, 1917 in San Francisco, Sarah was dedicated to her work in real estate for approximately forty years in and around Mountain View, CA. She is the loving mother to Maryetta Meltzer of Mountain View and Charles Ish of Sebastopol, as well as the adored grandmother of five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Sarah will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered. Through her incredible love, sense of humor, and warmth, her spirit lives on in the lives of those she touched.
In celebration of her life, a memorial mass services was held on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Martin Parish Chapel, 590 Central Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by The Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, Mountain View.
MILDRED MACK (TUDY)
Born on May 4, 1921, Mildred Mack passed away peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 22nd, 2006 at age 85. Tudy, as she was affectionately called, spent her last 4 years in So. CA near her daughter after suffering from Alzheimer’s. She loved to play golf at Los Altos Country Club along with her husband Frank, who preceded her in death in 1997. He lived in Los Altos for 74 years and was a prominent real estate agent for over 40 years. Both Frank and Tudy graduated from Mountain View High School where they were sweethearts.
Tudy received her BA from San Jose State and graduated from Nurses College at Highland Hospital in Oakland. She is survived by her two daughters: Susan Sugden of Wilson, Wyoming and Karen Wilson Stelman of San Diego, CA. Tudy was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
There will be private services at the grave sight at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto. If anyone would like to remember Tudy with a gift, the family suggests donations to The Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025. They were invaluable in their help to the family these last few months. Donations may also be sent to The Alzheimer’s Association or your favorite charity.
RUTH MELTZER BENETT
Ruth Meltzer Benett was born in Massachusetts on March 4, 1921 and died on November 26, 2006 in Los Altos. She was the loving wife of the late Benjamin Benett. She is survived by 3 children, Michele Jacks, Aron Benett and Sandy Benett, and 7 grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held in Florida. A memorial service will be held at the home of Sandy and Ann Benett on Wednesday, December 6 at 7:45pm.
