Petty theft

Nov. 14, time unknown, Linden Avenue: Unidentified suspects took mail from a resident’s mailbox. The victim reported that a female in a white vehicle fled the scene.

Nov. 14, time unknown, Angela Avenue: Suspects took mail from a resident’s mailbox. The victim reported that an African-

American male was seen taking the mail and then talking to a white female. The victim reported that the suspect fled the scene in a possibly white-colored vehicle.

Note: Police are advising residents to guard their mail and to deposit it in post office collection boxes or at the post office, if possible.

Burglary and forgery

Nov. 15, 12:37 p.m., Loucks and Mercedes

Avenue: A subject was stopped for a bicycle violation. After providing a false name, the subject was later arrested on two outstanding warrants for burglary and forgery. The subject was transported to San Jose Main Jail.

Driving under the influence

Nov. 26, 1:25 a.m., Almond Avenue and Frederick Court: A driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Stolen vehicle

Nov. 26, 9:27 a.m., 1200 block of Lisa Lane: A vehicle was reported stolen. The victim awoke to find his Toyota 4Runner missing from his driveway. The vehicle’s contents were strewn across the lawn. Police located the vehicle a block away. No suspects have been identified.

Credit card theft

Nov. 26, 5:19 p.m., 300 block of Main Street: A Los Altos Hills resident reported his credit card stolen. The suspect had made several purchases with the card, including one at a business on Main Street. The suspect is still unknown.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
