Sale pending for downtown lot

A local developer has agreed to buy the former Shell gas station site at the intersection of San Antonio Road and Edith Avenue in downtown Los Altos.

Los Altos resident Jeff Warmoth confirmed Monday he has begun escrow to purchase the high-profile property.

The purchase price was not given, but property owner Helen Wang was seeking nearly $1.4 million. Wang has owned the property since 1997, when she bought it for $500,000.

The property went on the market Oct. 4. Warmoth said he will submit plans for the property at a later date.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
