COURTESY OF BOB MABE Richard and Janet Lang’s 1933 Pierce Arrow is one of more than 100 cars featured at this year’s Fall Festival. |
The Los Altos Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 15th annual Celebrate Los Altos Fall Festival Oct. 7-8 in the parking plaza behind Main Street off San Antonio Road in downtown Los Altos.
The festival is scheduled to feature nearly 100 classic cars owned by local enthusiasts.
Classic cars will be on display both days in the South Parking Plaza between First and Second streets. All featured cars were built before 1970, many as early as the 1910s and 1920s. Models and types will range from early-American brass-radiator cars to 1960s muscle cars, European sports cars, hot rods and custom cars, and work trucks.
The mayor, police chief, high school principal and other community representatives will select cars worthy of recognition each day, with awards presented each afternoon.
Half the cars will be on display Saturday and the other half on Sunday. Those interested must come both days to see the entire selection.
Among other activities, this year’s Fall Festival will include a children’s alley, scarecrow contest, games and a train; fine wines and microbreweries; more than 160 arts and crafts booths; a premium wine tasting tent; and specialty foods from local restaurants.
Cash prizes of $100 will be awarded in the annual scarecrow contest, including $250 awarded for “Best of Show.” Categories include children 12 and younger, individuals, schools and businesses.
Entries must be received between 9 and 10 a.m.. Oct. 7 in the Children’s Alley on Second Street. Prize winners will be announced on the main stage Oct. 8.
