The ABC reality TV series “Wife Swap” came to Los Altos last week. The production team filmed two segments at Crimson Mim, a boutique shoe and apparel store on Main Street.

Christine Campbell, the owner of the shop, was on vacation in Canada when she received a call from the producer of the show.

“One of our customers, who lives in the area, is on the show,”

Campbell said. “The producer wanted to film her shopping at the store. I had 12 hours’ notice.”

The customer, Tina Lavadcano, lives in Portola Valley.

“Wife Swap” centers around two wives who switch families for two weeks. During the first week, they agree to follow the rules of the departing wife. In the second week, the swapped wives introduce their own rules and run the household their way.

The ABC film crew shoots in a documentary style with no additional lighting.

“They shot it in half an hour,” Campbell said. “They filmed me and two of my staff.”

The segment is expected to air in October or November.

“They (the production team) liked the store,” Campbell said. “It’s not every day that ABC comes to town.”

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
