MV woman wakes to ongoing burglary

Mountain View Police responded to an early-morning home invasion on the 900 block of Marilyn Drive Aug. 22.

A 70-year-old woman was home alone when she woke to find a male suspect in her bedroom. He stole cash, her purse and several antique, gold pocket watches. He tied up the woman, shut her in a closet, then left in her vehicle. The victim was able to escape and call police moments after the suspect fled. A short time later, police found her vehicle unoccupied and parked a few blocks from her home. She was not injured during the incident.

The suspect is still at large. The victim described him as 6 feet tall, possibly with “dark skin,” 25 to 35 years of age, with a southern accent, police said.
