Vehicle thefts

July 14, 1:18 p.m., 1000 block of El Camino Real: A car window was smashed and a cooler was stolen.

July 14, 8:15 p.m., 4000 block of El Camino Real: A window was smashed and a laptop was stolen.

July 14, 8:28 p.m., 1000 block of N. San Antonio Road: A window was smashed and a laptop was stolen.

July 14, 8:47 p.m., 4000 block of El Camino Real: A window was smashed and a laptop was stolen.

July 14, 10:04 p.m., 1000 block of N. San Antonio Road: A window was smashed and a suitcase, digital camera and cell phone were stolen.

July 15, 10:05 a.m., 400 block of La Prenda Road: Suspect entered unlocked vehicle and rifled through its contents.

Commercial burglary in progress

July 14, 11:12 p.m., 4000 block of El Camino Real: Suspect smashed a window in a gas station building and triggered an alarm. He was seen riding away on a bicycle and is still at large.

Trespassing and battery

July 15, 10:00 p.m., 1900 block of Laver Court: A resident confronted an intoxicated man who was found trespassing on his property and was promptly struck in the face.

Battery

July 16, 11:42 p.m., 200 block of Hawthorne Avenue: Two juveniles were engaged in a fight. Assault and battery were reported.

Felony warrant

July 16, 10:43 p.m., El Camino Real and Showers Drive: A suspect, stopped for a routine traffic violation, was arrested for a suspended license and felony charge. He was arrested and booked into the county’s main jail.

When members of the Los Altos Village Association first created the summer movie nights, they anticipated an event that would attract more residents downtown as a way to promote business.

What they didn’t anticipate was an influx of middle schoolers, or that parents would use the weekly Friday night affair as an opportunity to drop off their children and have someone else (in this case, the Village Association) effectively watch over them.
