JEANNE EDWARDS DILLEY WOODING
We are sharing the peaceful passing of our cherished mother and great role model, Jeannie Wooding. Born and raised in China, one of six proud children to missionary parents, Grace and Frederick Dilley. She returned to the U.S. in 1934 and later graduated from Wooster College in Ohio. Miss Dilley met and married Princeton Seminarian, the late Rev. Harry C. Wooding, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Mountain View, California for 27 years. They reared 5 children in Palo Alto: the late Rob and Fred Wooding; and are survived by their daughters, Suzanne Duckett, Dr. Gretchen Wooding (Hsu) and Connie Ring. Her other joys included tennis, bridge and playing the violin for the Mountain View Community Orchestra for many years. Gram’s greatest pride were her 6 grandchildren: Rachel and Sarah Hsu, Camille Duckett, Billy, Katie and Christie Ring whose accomplishments she happily shared with friends and strangers alike. Jeannie imparted wit and wisdom through her “gramisms” such as “It is more important to be beautiful on the inside than it is on the outside”. Jeannie will be missed and will be remembered in the hearts of many.
The family plans to have a private ceremony at Alta Mesa Cemetery in Palo Alto. Condolences may be sent to: Connie Wooding Ring, 3130 Alpine Rd, Suite 288, PMB 130, Portola Valley, CA 94028
