The Albert L. Schultz Jewish Community Center (ALSJCC) in Palo Alto announces the election of eight new board members, including Shelley Doran, Amnon Landan and Sharon Leslie of Los Altos. Their positions become active July 1.
Currently senior director of external affairs for Webcor Builders, Doran is a former planning commissioner in Los Altos Hills. She has served as a board member for the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford, the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce and the Los Altos Village Association.
Landan most recently served as chief executive officer and chairman of Mercury Initiative Corporation. Landan moved with his wife Yael and four children, Gilad, Maya, Yulie and Hadar to Los Altos in 1993.
Leslie is a private-practice physical therapist who specializes in pediatrics and treating breast cancer patients.
The Albert L. Schultz Jewish Community Center (ALSJCC) services Jewish and non-Jewish individuals of all ages through educational, social, recreational, wellness and cultural programs.

Denise Marcus, a 17-year Los Altos resident and a member of the Art of Living Foundation, is scheduled to present an introductory talk, “The Science of Breath,” 7 p.m. July 23, at the Los Altos main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road. For more information, call 961-0189.
Her son, Hayden Marcus, is in New Orleans for the summer with a group of 50 college students teaching trauma reduction and relaxation techniques to people feeling the stress of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The students are traveling throughout Louisiana and Mississippi.
These techniques were developed and are being taught without fee through the Art of Living, which is engaged in service projects worldwide. Hayden currently attends Prescott College in Prescott, Ariz.
