RICHARD D. JOHNSON/SPECIAL TO THE TOWN CRIER Horticulturalist David Kirby speaks to members of the Los Altos Garden Club June 20. |
David Kirby, a nationally known horticulturist for Monrovia Nursery, spoke to the Los Altos Garden Club June 20 on how to grow fragrant plants in the garden.
He brought dozens of plants as examples of how, with the right knowledge of watering and nutritional needs, home gardeners can easily create their own beautifully smelling gardens.
Monrovia is headquartered in Azusa, east of Los Angeles, and operates five nurseries in the West and South. The wholesale nurseries cover 4,724 acres and provide plants for more than 5,000 garden centers around the country. Monrovia ships its plants in refrigerated trucks.
The next meeting of the Garden Club of Los Altos will be Aug. 24 at Christ Episcopal Church, 1040 Border Road, Los Altos.
