Lauren Pierovich and Colin Ward

Lauren Pierovich and Colin Ward have announced their engagement to be married Aug. 26 in Pleasanton. A reception will follow at the Castlewood Country Club.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Lance and Carol Pierovich of Alamo. She graduated from Valley Christian High School, attended California State University Chico and is a part-time student at California State University East Bay, working toward a bachelor’s degree in marketing. She is employed by Macerich Co.

The groom-to-be is the son of Tom and Leslie Ward of Los Altos. He graduated from Homestead High School and received a bachelor’s degree from California State University Chico in communication information systems. He is employed at Hotkeys Internet Group in San Francisco.

The couple plan to live in Danville.

Marge and Mike Bruno, 50 years

Marge and Mike Bruno, longtime residents of Los Altos, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday. They were married in 1956 in Corona, N.Y. Later in the summer, the couple will commemorate their anniversary with a cruise to Alaska with their two sons and their families.

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
