LA family wins year of free flights

The Loh family of Los Altos has won a reality-TV challenge aired on JetBlue Airways flights - a year’s worth of free travel on the airline.

“We could not be more excited about our win,” said Sam Loh, patriarch of the Loh family and leader of Team Loh, which includes his wife, Mimi, daughter, Iris, and son, Josiah.

“Our first trip on JetBlue will be to visit family that we don’t get to see too often,” he said. “After that, we’re flying everywhere. We’re going to all the cities where JetBlue flies, and we look forward to being their ambassadors.”

The two-day cross-country adventure was recorded and aired on JetBlue flights between March 1 and April 30. The winning family was determined by viewers who cast online votes on the company’s Web site, www.JetBlue.com, during the same time period.

Viewers were asked to evaluate each family’s innovativeness, charitable instincts and teamwork throughout the competition.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

When members of the Los Altos Village Association first created the summer movie nights, they anticipated an event that would attract more residents downtown as a way to promote business.

What they didn’t anticipate was an influx of middle schoolers, or that parents would use the weekly Friday night affair as an opportunity to drop off their children and have someone else (in this case, the Village Association) effectively watch over them.
