Coroner identifies collision victim

The Santa Clara County Coroner’s office has identified a 50-year-old woman killed when the vehicle she was driving was struck by a large commercial truck April 26 as Makoui Zohal of Mountain View.

The accident occurred in the early morning on El Camino Real near the Highway 237 off-ramp. The cause has not been determined.

“The investigation is ongoing,” said Los Altos police officer Dale Messimer. “We’re still interviewing a number of witnesses,”

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Mountain View Police Department at 903-6344.

Arson

May 5, 12:26 a.m., 14300 block of Miranda Road, Los Altos Hills: Santa Clara County Fire Department fought a fire at the 1,200-square-foot residence. Fire fighters fought the blaze from outside the property and took approximately two hours to get the fire under control. The residence was destroyed. No injuries were reported. Dennis Johnson, arson investigator for the county, said it appears the fire was started deliberately. Anyone with any information should contact the fire department’s anonymous tip line at (408) 341-4401.

Dead body

May 1, 8:22 p.m., 100 block of Santa Rita Court: The body of a deceased 55-year-old was found inside the residence. Investigation is ongoing.

Recovered Vehicle

May 5, 6:42 a.m., 700 block of Distel Drive: Gold Nissan Sentra found in the parking garage of the residence. The vehicle is thought to have been stolen from Mountain View approximately a week earlier. Investigation is

ongoing.
