Town Crier Editor Bruce Barton and Jose Solera, director of leadership development, IT production support at Intel, were honored at the 35th annual Rotary District 5170 Conference held April 28-30 in Santa Clara. The Rotary Club of Los Altos, one of 60 clubs in the Rotary district, nominated both honorees.

Barton received the Media Recognition Award for his coverage of the community service and other activities sponsored by the Rotary Club of Los Altos.

Solera received the Service Award for Professional Excellence. Criteria for selection included being an established member of his profession, demonstrating high ethical standards, achieving professional distinction, having experience training and/or mentoring others in his profession, and having a record of community service.

In addition to his duties at Intel, Solera has also served as president of the Santa Clara chapter of Intel’s Latino Network (ILN) for the past two years. For the past 10 years, Solera’s community service has focused on Scouting.

Rotary International is a service organization of more than 1.2 million members in 32,000 Rotary Clubs in 168 nations worldwide. Its membership comprises business and professional men and women dedicated to service and promoting international understanding.
