A woman was killed early April 26 when her car collided with a truck at the intersection of Grant Road and El Camino Real.

The Mountain View resident, believed to be in her 50s, was driving a maroon Chrysler PT Cruiser east on El Camino Real.

Her vehicle was struck just before 6 a.m. by a large commercial truck, generally used to transport gravel or sand, traveling south on Highway 237, police said. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.

The cause of the collision had not yet been determined, and the investigation was continuing. There is no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved, police said Friday. Police had not released the deceased woman’s name when the Town Crier went to press.

Witnesses should contact the Mountain View Police Department at 903-6344 or the Traffic Hotline at 903 6146.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
