Robbery
April 30, 11:42 p.m., El Monte and Almond avenues: An elderly female was approached by a male who stole her walking cane and lured her into bushes. She called for help and flagged down motorists who dialed 911 and provided police with a description of the suspect. Mountain View Police Department located the suspect on Miramonte and Barbara avenues. The victim later identified the suspect, Samuel Anthony Ruiz, 29, who was booked and being held in San Jose.
Driving offenses
April 30, 7:07 p.m., Foothill Expressway and St. Joseph Avenue: An officer attempted to stop the suspect for speeding. The suspect sped off, abandoned the vehicle in a nearby yard and fled on foot. Police located the suspect, Paul Villa, 30, on Fallen Leaf and Louise Lanes 40 minutes later. He was later booked for evading a police officer, driving on a suspended license, driving under the influence and hit and run.
Auto thefts
April 27, 7:52 a.m., 700 block of Anderson Drive: $20 stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
April 27, 7:58 a.m., 700 block of Anderson Drive: Unlocked vehicle searched by unknown suspect. A child’s mountain bike taken from outside the property.
Missing juvenile
April 27, 10:06 p.m., 1800 block of Newcastle Drive: 14 -year-old male runaway. Later discovered.
