Mother-in-law of Los Altos mayor
Mrs. Jorgenson

Doris Leora Elder Jorgenson, mother-in-law of Los Altos Mayor Ron Packard, died peacefully in her sleep April 11 in Los Altos. Mrs. Jorgenson was 90.

She was born Oct. 29, 1915 in her Los Angeles family home, to Thomas McKey Elder and Elsa Rachel Barker Elder. The oldest of six children, she grew up in Southern California. Mrs. Jorgenson graduated from San Bernardino High School and attended San Bernardino Valley College.

She married Floyd N. Jorgenson on April 3, 1936, in Oakland. They just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. She and her husband lived in the Southern California area their entire married life, most recently in Redlands for 25 years.

Mrs. Jorgenson was a long-time employee at Redlands Community Hospital as a nurses’ aide. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was actively involved in service through her church.

Mrs. Jorgenson loved to garden, fish, read, cook, write letters and spend time with her family. Her husband and family were important priorities in her life, family members said.

The last three years she and Floyd have lived in Los Altos with their daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Ron Packard.

Mrs. Jorgenson is survived by her husband, Floyd N. Jorgenson, and five children, Floyd T. Jorgenson, Redlands; Valerie (Richard) Anderson, Kaysville, Utah; Karen (Chuck) Webb, Lake Arrowhead; Crystal (Ron), Los Altos; and Jerry (Diane) Jorgenson, Wrightwood. She was the beloved “granny” to 24 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were made by Spangler Mortuaries, Los Altos.
