Doris Elder and Floyd Jorgenson

Floyd N. and Doris Elder Jorgenson celebrated their 70th wedding at the Los Altos home of Mayor Ron Packard and his wife Crystal. They were married April 3, 1936, in Oakland.

The Jorgensons have five children: Floyd T. Jorgenson of Redlands; Valerie and her husband Richard Anderson of Kaysville, Utah; Karen and her husband Chuck Webb of Blue Jay; Crystal and her husband Ron Packard of Los Altos; and Jerry and his wife Diane Jorgenson of Wrightwood.

They have 24 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

The couple have lived in the Packard’s home for the last three years so their daughter Crystal can care for them. Before moving to Los Altos, they lived in Redlands.

Michelle Six and Brian Shoaf

Michelle Six and Brian Shoaf have announced their engagement to be married Sept. 3 at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. A reception and dinner will follow at Greens Restaurant.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Charles Ray and Eleanor Segal Six of Los Altos. She graduated from Los Altos High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University, a master’s degree in fine arts from the American Conservatory Theater and a juris doctorate from Cardozo Law School. She is a professional actress and practicing attorney.

The groom-to-be is the son of R. Allen and Judith P. Shoaf of Gainesville, Fla. He received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Carnegie Mellon University and is currently a graduate student at UCLA.

The couple met in 1998 when they performed together at the Utah Shakespearean Festival. They plan to live in Southern California.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
