Los Altos woman dies in fall from overpass
A Los Altos woman, Gloria Hejna, 42, jumped from the San Antonio Road overpass onto the southbound lanes of Highway 101 at 1:29 p.m. March 24.
According to a witness, the woman climbed over the fence on San Antonio, then jumped. A car immediately hit the fallen woman.
When the Palo Alto Police Department responded to a bystander’s 911 call, an ambulance crew was already administering CPR. Unknown military personnel were assisting in controlling traffic.
According to Palo Alto police, no one in the car was injured.
The collision, which involved about seven vehicles, caused the California Highway Patrol to shut down two lanes on Highway 101 until 4 p.m.
Mountain View assault
March 26, 5:15 a.m., Phyllis Avenue and Pamela Drive, Mountain View: sexual assault and robbery at gunpoint in residential area. Victim released, fled the area and sought help.
Suspect is described as Hispanic male in his 30s, 5′8″, medium but muscular build with a dark and clear complexion, thick eyebrows and lips, wearing a gray T-shirt with black Ben Davis-style pants, Converse tennis shoes, black with a white stripe and rubber bands around the bottom of both pant legs. He spoke both English and Spanish.
Witnesses are asked to come forward. Persons with information should call the MVPD tip line at (866) 570-8211.
