The California Department of Education released the Academic Performance Index (API) for 2005-2006 last week. The report indicates that Los Altos schools scored well above state targets for another year.
All the schools in the Los Altos School District scored more than 900, making the district API average 949, the highest in Santa Clara County.
“We are delighted,” said Margot Harrigan, president of the LASD Board of Trustees. “It’s amazing that we continue to beat our own scores each year.”
The Mountain View-Los Altos Union School District received an API score of 802. Mountain View High School scored 819 and Los Altos High School scored 799.
Bullis Charter School, which scored 973, achieved the best API base score in the Los Altos area.
The API base score is calculated from California’s Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) results and high school exit exams. The scores can range from 200 to 1,000. The target for schools in California is 800.
