TV host to visit local knit shop
Vickie Howell, host of the DIY Network’s “Knitty Gritty” knitting show is scheduled to appear 6 p.m. April 19 at Full Thread Ahead, 169 Main St., Los Altos.
Howell will speak to local knitters, answer questions and autograph her book, “New Knits on the Block: A Guide to Knitting What Kids Really Want” (Sterling, 2005), which was a finalist for the 2006 Craftrends Award of Excellence.

Library hosts ‘Get Wild’ nature program today
Wildlife Rescue of Palo Alto is scheduled to present a special program for children ages 13 and under 3:30 p.m. today in the Los Altos Library Program Room.
Library airs sustainable farming documentary
“Broken Limbs: Apples, Agriculture and the New American Farmer,” a documentary with good news about the future of sustainable farming co-sponsored by Slow Food Silicon Valley, is scheduled to be shown 7:30 p.m. April 5 at at the Los Altos Library.
Ann Duwe of Slow Food and Andy Griffin of Mariquita Farm plan to introduce the film. Griffin will explain how community supported agriculture or subscription farming works.
Mariquita Farm, located between Watsonville and Corralitos, is part of Two Small Farms, a community-supported agricultural organization that delivers seasonal, organic vegetables to homes and restaurants locally. Slow Food is an international organization dedicated to the pleasures of the table and to all that is sustainable and just in the pursuit of world food traditions.
