Multicultural Night benefits Zimbabwe
A Multicultural Night is scheduled from 7-9 p.m. March 31 at the Los Altos Youth Center to raise money for Pump Aid, a non-profit organization based in Zimbabwe that installs water pumps in rural communities. The evening will feature an ethnic buffet, high school performers and a keynote speaker. Money raised will go toward preventing the 3 million deaths each year in Africa caused by unsafe drinking water.
Pump Aid’s “Elephant” pumps, which are based on a 2,000-year-old Chinese design, require minimal maintenance and can be powered by hand, pedal, wind or solar energy. Each pump serves an average of 200 people and is enclosed so that the water remains safe to drink.
Tickets are $20, and all proceeds directly benefit Pump Aid. To purchase tickets or for more information, contact Katie Fackler at kwfackler@hotmail.com or Julie Walz at 941-2535.
