Commendable stories on troops

It is commendable that the Town Crier published stories of locals among the U.S. troops in Iraq. On a personal level, the stories told us of many good things our troops are doing. Whether you are for or against the war, we need to hear these stories. Many of us live our comfortable lives without thinking about the sacrifices others make.

As Staff Sgt. Christopher Lillibridge says, we need to make adjustments in the way we live, particularly regarding our levels of oil consumption, or we need to look at our vested interest in peace in the Middle East as a real and very dangerous part of our lives. We believe it is necessary for our nation to do both.

Thank you for printing these stories.

How is Iraq more ordered?

I question the headline on the front page (March 1) about the 136,000 troops “establishing order” in Iraq.

Please tell me how Iraq is now more ordered than before our ill-led invasion.

Need for Dept. of Peace

The quotation, “Man must put an end to war or war will put an end to man” (John F. Kennedy) is obvious. Man has developed weapons that can end humanity. We urgently need a Department of Peace supported by every town and city in America. This is not utopian but vital. Citizens, wake up, speak out, demand a Department of Peace to redirect the aggression of war. If we want to end war and survive as a species, we must not only pray for peace, we must work for it.

Unscientific thinking

The recent letter considering “evolution” a “science” needs clarification. It is completely illogical. Evolution is not a “science” and really does not even qualify as a “theory.” It is a religion. There is no scientific proof for evolution because not one transition species has ever been found (which is necessary to prove the “theory”).

Intelligent design is more scientific because it is supported by mathematical probability and biological facts. Every new discovery has been negative for evolution. How much longer must humanity be exposed to “expert” minimally qualified and biased “scientists” milking the “Evolution Religion” for their livelihood and requiring acceptance of their teaching on “faith” in evolution?
